What is a Firewall?

A firewall is a tool that monitors communication to and from your computer. It sits between your computer and the rest of the network, and according to some criteria, it decides which communication to allow, and which communication to block. It may also use some other criteria to decide about which communication or communication request to report to you (either by adding the information to a log file that you may browse whenever you wish, or in an alert message on the screen), and what not to report.

Advantages of External Firewalls over Personal Firewalls

1. They do not take resources from the computer. This should be clear. This is especially useful when the firewall blocks flooding attacks.
2. It is harder (although in principle still possible) for a Trojan horse to disable it, because it does not reside in the same computer that the Trojan has infected. It is not possible to use the specific communication while totally bypassing the firewall.
3. They can be used without any dependence on the operating system on the computer(s) they defend.
4. No instability problems.

Thank you..

RECOVER hidden Files from Virus infected USB Drives (Flash) and others ... Shortcut virus Removal

Now a days all the people use USB Flash drives like Pendrive, External Hard Disk and Many more. They all skipped DVD, CD and all optical Disc because it takes time to copy and it cannot be reused. So USB Pendrives are now with all people. I used to see all over my college, they hang USB pendrive in their necks. They carry Music, Movies, Datas in that. How USB flash drives improves as the mean while USB virus also increases along with that.
If you have some nasty virus on USB drive that hide all your file in the drive? ie; hides your files and folders, creates exe file extensions of your folders and even corrupt your files. You can view these files by going to Tools>>Folder Options ..But the attributes of these files often stay unchanged even if you uncheck hidden attribute on file/folder properties.

Windows8 Feature: System Reset Without Losing Your Data

Refresh Your Pc_preview_llMessed up your system? You can try to reset it to factory default without losing any data!
A system reset feature wasn’t present in Windows 7, but it is in Windows 8. I personally like it since it has helped me a couple times refreshing my PC without losing any important data. While keeping your personal data, Metro style apps, and important settings stored you can safely & securely re-install Windows 8 hassle-free. If your system came with a recovery disc, Windows 8 would use that, else it would use the same installation disc to refresh your PC. The refresh feature is somewhat close to the system repair feature of Windows 7. Your PC would boot into the Recovery Environment, scan your PC, keep the important data, and install a fresh new copy of Windows 8. No files or important data is lost during the entire process. Here is how to do it:
1. Move your mouse to the top right corner of your screen and click Settings when the Charms bar appears
Click-Settings
2. Click Change PC settings
Click Change PC Settings
3. Click General and under Refresh your PC without affecting your files option, clickGet Started
Click General and refresh your PC
4. You would see a message telling you that your data what would be saved. ClickNext and the system would restart to be refreshed. When finished, you would be able to sign back in Windows 8. Once you sign in, you would see the Removed Apps.html file on the Desktop detailing the software that was removed during the system refresh.
